The Virginia Capital Trail is an ambitious project connecting over 50 miles, four jurisdictions and two Virginia capitals.
Currently 16-miles are complete: 8 in James City County, 7.5 in Charles City County and .5 in downtown Richmond. Thirteen more are under construction in Charles City County, with rest scheduled for completion by 2014.
The VCTF is the principal advocate, raising funds for enhancements such as interpretive and way-finding signage, bike/pedestrian accommodations and trailhead amenities including benches, bike racks and shade structures. The Foundation also actively promotes the trail through numerous initiatives to draw visitors and their tourism dollars from outside the region and Virginia's borders. We also partner with V-DOT on construction and alignment issues, working to make the Virginia Capital Trail the best it can be.

Terms & Conditions: The Virginia Capital Trail Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that works in partnership with the Virginia Department of Transportation and other state agencies and stakeholders, to fulfill a world-class vision of the project, promoting best practices for trail construction, maintenance and enhancements such as landscaping, interpretive stations and signage, while being sensitive to the environment and the concerns of the community. Sponsorships will be awarded on a first come, first served basis. VCTF retains rights of placement of each sponsored amenity and will attempt to provide sponsor with their desired location. VCTF reserves the right to approve message, creative content or decline sponsorships, at its discretion. Payment terms are outlined under payment terms section.
 
* The VCTF will work with V-DOT and the localities to replace any amenity in disrepair or deemed unsuitable due to theft, vandalism or other factors, at no cost to the sponsor. The sponsor may not remove or attempt to change their recognition plate. Should changes be requested, the VCTF will do so at the sponsor’s expense. Sponsorship terms are 30-years.
